King Coal Highway

King Coal Highway Bluefield, WVA CCG is constructing dual structures interchanging with Airport Road and spanning the Middle Fork Brush and James P. Bailey Lake reservoirs. Each of the bridges’ foundations consists of HP 14 X 117 steel bearing piles at the abutments with MSE walls encapsulating the massive backfill material and 60ft deep x 9.5 ft diameter drilled shafts at the interior piers. These large diameter shafts support the 9.0ft, 7.0ft, and 5.5ft diameter sectional columns. Atop the column stems, rest a 65cy hammerhead and traditional rectangular style pier cap for a substructure total of nearly 1.0 million lbs of reinforcing steel and 1,750 cy of concrete. A combined 2.1 million lbs of structural steel girders, SIP decking, and 455,000 lbs of epoxy reinforced steel bars will support over 2000 cy of cast-in-place concrete deck across the valley and over the environmentally sensitive reservoirs. Construction began in September 2019 and is on pace to complete late 2021. Once completed, these bridges will provide the necessary mobility to deliver coal from the mountains of West Virginia to reach destinations far and wide. White House Bridge

White House Bridge - B22 Luray, VA This $11.3 million bridge-replacement project on Route 211 over the South Fork of the Shenandoah River will upgrade the existing 1947 structure for Page County and the Virginia DOT. Located four miles west of Luray, VA, the project requires a detour shifting all traffic onto the eastbound bridge for complete demolition and replacement of the westbound structure. A heavily-used boat ramp under the bridge will be temporarily located adjacent to the project so that the local community still has access to the river. The project consists of 40,000+ cubic yards of imported fill, nearly 2,500 cubic yards of concrete, and over 350 tons of structural steel. With a 30-month duration, the project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022. Mt Olive Bridge

Mt. Olive Bridge - M81 Bumpass, VA This $1.7 million bridge replacement project for the Virginia DOT included demolition of the existing bridge and installation of a new, 182' long, two-span bridge over the North Anna River. Campbell Co. Bridge

Campbell County Bridge - N62 Altavista, VA This $2.2 million bridge replacement project on Route 711 in Campbell County, Virginia included the installation of a 185' long, prefabricated single span through truss. The 226,000-lb truss was set into place using a 550-ton and 600-ton crane to make a complicated, tandem-crane lift. This project was made even more complex because the work was accomplished over two active Norfolk Southern rail lines. CCG was responsible for design, fabrication and installation of the truss. Hillsdale Drive

Hillsdale Drive Extension Charlottesville, VA This $15 million project alleviated traffic from the Route 29 corridor north of Charlottesville by completing a connection between Rio Road and Hydraulic Road, east of Route 29. Hillsdale Drive was extended by 1 mile and included a new traffic signal, a roundabout, 3600 feet of shared-use path, 5800 feet of sidewalk, and a 160’ bridge over a stream.
